    Notes
    • John McCoy is on the 1930 census in the household of Frank McCoy Jr.as Frank's brother. Also present in the household is Donald E. McCoy,Frank's nephew. Based on their ages and the fact that Frank, Jr. doesnot have a brother named John, they are probably father and son andthe brother and nephew of Frank McCoy Sr. but at this point it is only a theory.
Regarding the DOB, the WWI draft card may have the correct date. Thedate on the 1900 could be a guess - he is listed as a servant butliving with his sister Mary Ann (McCoy) Arment and her family but ifshe or her husband James was the respondent, they could have forgotten his exact date.
The marriage record for Nellie May Roper is definitely John, son ofDennis and Alice, but the WWI draft card and the 1910 census could besomeone else. For now, I'm assuming that the "May" in both records iswhat Nellie May was called in daily life. Note that she says it's hersecond marriage but the parents' names on the marriage record indicate that Roper was her maiden name.
John reports that he is married in 1920 (living with an apparentlyunrelated couple, Byron and Aurilla Smith. I found a Mae McCoy,divorced, age 36, living with Charles and Emma Vibbard - but she saysshe's Charles' half-sister so I guess that's Nellie Mae Knowles whoapparently was also married to a McCoy?? In the 1925 census for DesMoines (where they got married) I found a May McCoy, divorced, age 39, who could be either Nellie May Roper or Nellie May Knowles.
Another weird thing is that Nellie May Roper says she was born in TamaCounty, Iowa in the marriage record but in the 1910 census she saysIllinois which is where Nellie Mae Knowles was born - and both were born in 1882.
